2010 has been a significant year for PING - Lee Westwood is at the top of the world golf rankings, Louis Oosthuizen won The Open Championship, there has also been four solo second-place finishes, two of which - the PGA Championship and The Open Championship were won with PING putters which gives a total of 52 major putter wins to date.

“To have the world’s number 1 golfer, a Major Champion and significant contenders in all the other Majors makes it a history-making year for our company,” said an extremely proud PING Chairman and CEO, John Solheim.

There might also be a mad rush for PING’s new S56 iron - launched in July, now that it has achieved 12 worldwide wins. If you are one of the lucky golfers to receive a PING S56 iron for Christmas make sure you protect your investment with Golfplan Insurance.

Do your homework

When it comes to golf insurance there are plenty of insurers out there to choose from, making sure you get the right cover requires a bit of careful homework.

Here are two of the most requested types of cover and examples of limitations from some cheap insurers –

New for Old cover is provided by most insurers but if your clubs are a few years old some insurers will not actually cover them on this basis.

Public Liability is important when you’re out on the golf course. If you enjoy playing golf on a lunch break or after work with you work colleagues it might be worth checking that the public liability cover on offer does include this type of playing partner.

Golfplan Insurance provides their policy holders with one of the most comprehensive covers on the market, where New for Old policies really are New for Old.

All New for Old policies provide –

New For Old – whatever the age (inc buggies and custom fit), Public Liability - £5m, Personal Accident – up to £75,000, Accidental Property Damage - £2m, Hole-in-One up to £300 and more.

Is golf insurance worth it?

Golf insurance isn’t compulsory by law but most golf clubs are now insisting that all members are covered when stepping onto the golf course. For many golfers they don’t see that golf insurance is worth it, but what would you do if your miss hit golf ball knocked a fellow golfer unconscious and they sued?

There are many occasions of this or similar types of accidents occurring, and it is the responsibility of the individual to make sure they are covered.  Public Liability claims can be expensive!

Another big reason to have golf insurance is to cover your equipment from theft and damage. Many golf insurance providers offer New for Old cover for golf equipment, but please make sure you are getting the right cover as some providers will not cover your equipment with new if they are over three years old.

Golfplan Insurance provides a comprehensive package of  cover including; New For Old – whatever the age (inc buggies and custom fit), Public Liability - £5m, Personal Accident – up to £75,000, Accidental Property Damage - £2m and much more. Not only can you rest assure that Golfplan provides one of the most comprehensive cover on the market but we are also recommended by the PGA.
